COVID-19: I thought it would be Easy

SARS-CoV-2 has been cracked. There’s one small problem. We haven’t accepted what we know, what we understand. Why not?

On March 15th, 2020, I was in Arequipa, Peru, when the COVID quarantines began. My scheduled April flight home was cancelled. It took time and money to return to Canada on a rescue flight.

Having recently published a book on the concepts of cure (The Elements of Cure), I thought it would be easy to cover COVID-19 in a new light, hopefully, less than 100 pages.  I began to research and write. As I wrote, the situation changed and changed again, and again. Every day, new statistics, new facts, new claims, and new denials emerge. I worked to maintain balance and at a higher level, a theoretical cure view, to not get caught up in the day to day news, most of which has no relation cure.

To cure a case of COVID-19, we need a comprehensive definition of the COVID-19, and a complementary definition of cure covering all aspects and all cases. Neither exists today. COVID-19 is incurable.

COVID-19 is poorly defined. There are two main problems: uncertainty about causes and the poor definition of the disease (the virus, recognized by WHO as the cause, often does not cause any disease). COVID-19 is related to many prior, and secondary diseases making a definition more challenging. What is cured? When is a cure present?

Health is often viewed as the opposite of disease, disease as the opposite of health, an inaccurate and incomplete view.

COVID-19, like any disease and all COVID diseases, is not a thing. It is a concept that exists on the boundaries between healthiness, illness, and disease. The consequences of an individual case might be improved healthiness (but we don’t study healthiness scientifically so we don’t know for certain) or mild, moderate or severe disease, even death.

Our current medical systems function in limited disease/treatment paradigms. Knowledge is intentionally isolated in many different silos. Only the conventional medical silo has official status. The conventional medicine’s paradigm treats COVID-19 but does not, cannot, recognize COVID-19 cured. Medically, cures do not exist except for a very few infectious disease cases, those cured by officially approved medicines that kill, disable, or remove the infectious agent. Millions of cured COVID patients are labelled recovered (many are simply ignored). There is no definition of, and no test for COVID cured. All cure and cured claims are mistrusted. Claimants and claims are dismissed, shunned, sometimes banned.

No proof of cure is possible, cured being undefined.

As we open our view to encompass all cures, we see many new realities. Most cases of COVID-19 are cured by health. Today, with no theory and no practices of health we have no tools nor techniques to detect cures. We count deaths from COVID. Cures are ignored.

We have much to learn, as we begin to study health.

Most of this post consists of extracts from the book: COVID-19 from Causes to Cures.

“We have not succeeded in answering all our problems—indeed we sometimes feel we have not completely answered any of them. The answers we have found have only served to raise a whole set of new questions. In some ways we feel that we are as confused as ever, but we think we are confused on a higher level and about more important things.”The Workshop Way of Learning – Earl C. Kelley
