Heathiness, healthicine, and healthicines do not appear in today’s dictionaries.
#Healthicine: The Arts and Sciences of Health and Healthiness Share on XThis image illustrates their meanings.
In the first oval, we see Healthiness and Illness. Healthiness is the overall measure of health of an individual. A healthiness is a specific incidence of health. We have heart healthiness, lung healthiness and leg healthiness. Health is whole. Each healthiness can be measured on a percentage scale.
Illnesses are holes in healthiness. An illness is a specific incidence of being ill. You might be ill with measles, cancer, cataracts, or a broken leg. Many illnesses can be diagnosed as a disease, but many cannot be diagnosed – the set of illnesses is larger than the set of diagnosable diseases.
In the second oval, we see Heathicines and Medicines.
Medicines are used to treat signs and symptoms of diseases. Few medicines address cause and as a result, few medicines cannot cure. Today’s medical cures are generally toxic, designed to kill the causes of illnesses like measles, pneumonia, etc. Medicines need to be patented to make money for their creators and marketers – and patents cannot be issued for ‘naturally healthy products’. Healthicines act by improving healthiness, so the side effects of healthicines are improvements in health.
Healthicines improve healthiness. Many, perhaps most illnesses are best cured by improving healthiness with healthicines. Medicines are a small subset of healthicines, as healthicines includes all things and all actions that can be used to improve healthiness.
In the third oval, we have the fields of Healthicine and Medicine.
Medicine is the study of illness and disease – including prevention, diagnosis, treatments and cures. Healthicine is the study of healthiness, including measurements of healthiness and the study of all ways to improve, or perhaps to reduce healthiness. Healthicine also includes techniques to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure illnesses – and in most cases, a healthicine approach is broader, more comprehensive and more effective overall. The field of medicine is a small subset of the field of healthicine.
#Healthicine is about health and healthiness, with a goal to optimize healthiness. Share on XHealthiness has many physical components: nutrients, cells, organs, organ systems, body, mind, spirit, community and even environment – which can be studied in a Hierarchy of Healthicine which was first published and explored in the blog Personal Health Freedom. Healthicine, however, is not limited to things or attributes. Only living things are healthy and healthicine is about healthy processes – more than it is about healthy things.

I have recently published a study of the word cure. The word cure is sadly neglected in conventional medicine, and many medical dictionaries fail to provide a definition for cure. in addition, no medical reference provides a scientific medical definition of cure, cures, curing or cured. A Calculus of Curing clearly defines the three elements of illness, their causes and cures.
