You can buy this edition at your local bookstore to verify this if you like. Or you can search the contents on Amazon to verify that “cure” is not found. How is it possible for a prestigious organization, with a world renown history of preparing dictionaries, to publish a medical dictionary that does not contain the word “cure” – and not notice the error years after it is published? How do you want to Die?

Sherwinn B. Nuland, in his book The Art of Aging, answers the question. We know, he tells us, how we want to die.

We want to be healthy, and then die quickly. No-one wants to linger for years, becoming more and more decrepit, dirty, dependent, and unhealthy until we finally fade away.

He says “There are those, of course, who would like to die ‘all at once,’ but others who would prefer a short period of decline, provided it is not at all like the agonizing waning that so many suffer today.
